Cold Light
A Warm Story Painted by Chilling Clairvoyance
A Hilmar Oddsson Film
Produced by Fridrik Thor Fridriksson and Anna María Karlsdóttir
Main cast:
Ingvar E. Sigurdsson
Áslákur Ingvarsson
What could be better than knowing your future? And what could be worse?
A love-filled childhood abruptly ends when catastrophe descends. One that the child had foreseen, yet failed to act upon.
A 40-year-old is hiding in a self-made prison of mundane life. The film opens as he finally becomes resolved to dare gaze at and come to terms with someone's totally different life. His unthinkable past.
He turbulently sheds the cobwebs to find that light and happiness have been awaiting him. And this potentially cold cinematic knock on life's door becomes a defiantly uplifting work of art.

Director's Biography
Hilmar Oddsson was born in Reykjavík in 1957. In 1980 he began studying film direction at the feature-film department of the München Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film where he graduated in 1985.
His most interesting short film from Munich was IN THE SHADOW OF SCARTARIS -- on the mysteries of Snæfellsjökull glacier where Jules Verne had set his classic Journey to the Centre of the Earth.
After he returned from Munich, Hilmar Oddsson's first full-length film, THE BEAST (Eins og skepnan deyr, 1986), was released. This psychological thriller dealing with the fate of two young people in a remote and bleak landscape was well received by the public and critics. Hilmar Oddsson directed, wrote the screenplay and composed some of the musical score as well.
Tears of Stone (Tár úr steini, 1995)features the story of Jon Leifs, an Icelandic composer in Nazi Germany of the 1930´s, who falls in love and marries a Jewish girl, forcing him to turn his quest for success into a quest for survival.
During the last few years interest in Jon Leifs´ music has been growing, both in Iceland and abroad. It is more Icelandic then anything Icelandic, gorwing out of nature both terrifying and magnificent, glaciers, volcanos, wasteland ? with roots in traditional Icelandic folk music.
Between major projects, Hilmar Oddsson has worked as a freelance producer for both Icelandic TV channels, and as a newspaper critic.
