Synopsis

Thestory of a man in search of his own identity. 

When William Morris’s marriage to the working class Jane Burden breaks down because of her love affair with his closest friend and mentor the painter and poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Morris’s life is thrown into turmoil. The love triangle becomes the talk of London society when the affair is exposed.

Desperately trying to tear himself from Rossetti’s influence Morris decides to go on a pilgrimage to Iceland, visiting the country of the Sagas he has been studying. In Iceland Morris, who is not a seasoned traveller, goes through an ordeal. It is a journey that takes him to his favourite Saga places, but it is also a journey that takes him through the darkest corners of his mind, reflected in the barren and hostile environment of Iceland. His imagination runs wild - his heroes from the Sagas come alive in the wastes of the highlands.

At his lowest point during the trip, Morris realizes that to gain control of his life, he must find his strength within himself.
