Shooting of COLD LIGHT has started!

It's been a long journey for director/screenwriter Hilmar Oddsson who fell in love with the book 15 years ago. Along with producer, Fridrik Thor, he has been developoing the project for the last 10 years, writing the screenplay and raising the money. So when the shooting finally got underway, on November 26th, it was a bittersweet milestone for Oddson; the end of on long journey and the beginning of another.

This shooting session takes place in Seydisfjordur, a small town in the Icelandic countryside, where the book actually happens, and will run until December 20th. The second half of the shoot will run from Jan. 17th- Feb. 5th in Reykjavik, where again the story actually takes place.

A crew of about 40 people have now made Seydisfjordur their temporary home and the inhabitants have welcomed them with open arms. Some of the crew is even sleeping in the homes of the townspeople. In addition over 10 people from the town are working on the film with the crew. One of the crew describet it as attending a big family event every day and night.

For Ingvar E. Sigurðsson (K-19, Angels of the Universe), Iceland's most prominent actor and the lead in Cold Light (Grimur), it's literally a family event, since both his son and daughter have big parts in the movie. His son plays the younger version of Grimur in the past, and the part of Grimur's sister his played by Ingvar's daughter.

The film will be premiered in Iceland in the Fall of 2003.
